As was said at the beginning of chapter 2 you'll probably understand this better if you read the first 2 chapters first ![]() **************************** The next morning I called Kate from the motel room and told her where I was then hung up and went to the Shoney's next door to eat breakfast. After breakfast I went back to the motel and showred and shaved. Then I sat there contemplating the turn my life was about to take. I was totally in love with the woman who was, at that very moment, on her way to my arms yet I was still a little saddened by the situation. Knowing that my children were back in North Carolina with their mom and that they were hurting wasn't, and still isn't easy to think about. I was sitting in that room in that old tattered motel chair crying when Kate knocked at the door. She didn't have to ask me why I was sitting their in a pool of tears, she knew from all our talks that this was a very rough time in my life. The decision to move to Tennessee was not an easy one to make. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make in my life and it took it's toll on my emotions and she was there, finally, to comfort me. I was filled with a flurry of mixed emotions. One minute so saddened by the fact that I had left them there and the next as happy as any man has the right to be. She was there through it all and never questioned my tears or feelings of guilt because I know that she too had these very same feelings at the very same time. We were the shoulder that each other could lean on in our most trying time. After all the tears, about an hour later, we sat and talked and kissed and slowly made our way to the bed across the room. Looking into her eyes was like seeing the whole world in a brand new light. When we kissed everything around me just seemed to disappear. We were the only two people left in all the world and time seemed to stand still as if the moment would last forever. We settled in for a night of passion like no man could ever forget ( and who would want to? ). The next morning she woke me with a kiss and a cup of coffee in her hand. She had gotten up before me and went to the Shoney's to get us breakfast and brought it back and fed me in the bed. I was completely amazed by that. Then after another three hour love making session we left the motel and started the search for our first home. We found an apartment which was located in a quiet neighborhood four miles east of downtown Memphis. It wasn't the most impressive living quarters I had ever seen but for the time being it was home. It was our home, our first home together and to us it was the Taj Mahal. We didn't have any furniture or dishes for the first two weeks that we were there but it was still heaven on earth to us. The first thing we bought was a bed and a set of cookware for the four foot by five foot space the man whom designed the building called a kitchen. The next week we started saving our money for a down payment on the first house we would buy. We lived happily in that small one bedroom apartment for the next nine months until we finally had the means to make that downpayment.
