(Some of you asked for more -here it is) We all came back - for the next session At this point I was not surprised I knew my sensitivity had increased Although it was a bit unnatural for me Later sessions were to be different But I didn't know it yet I seem to remember John being very subdued Hardly speaking a word For the entire hour Love gave him some reading material And he mumbled grateful thanks Sue speaks up and recounts Her sessions at the bank and with her lawyer She's discovered some insurance policies And she's not quite as broke As she'd originally thought But the emptiness she and the children are feeling Has broken down communication Between them They are really adults in age In their twenties But have been living at home And are still unmarried It is apparent they were born Late in their marriage And thought a great deal of their father But were shocked that their finances Were so poorly maintained Sue says they expected lavish weddings And substantial help buying homes Sue thinks he spent the bulk Of his assets putting them through Good schools Thinking he had many earning years left Pat seems relieved to hear about Sue By comparison with the man she's been living with Sue's dead husband sounds like a saint She tells us that she learned of A battered woman's shelter from Ms Love And moved out while her abuser was at work She's gaining some self confidence But knows she can't stay there long She must find a new job So she can rely on herself And support her three children The way she looks at John Makes me think she's eying him If he should ever look at her And I wonder if she will ever be Totally independent Mary has enrolled in Weight Watchers And says she's determined to lose The weight she's gained since her marriage She has taken a position at a manpower provider Interviewing And seems quite determined to get on with her life Her prior anger quite subdued I tell the group I've been back to see my kids Since last we met And had group counseling with them Been able to explain to them That I still loved them And in no way were they responsible For the divorce Or my moving out (Continued in IV) Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe ~ |
