I just have a question about writing prose. I was thinking about trying my hand at it, but I don't understand...how is it poetry? What's the difference between it and writing a short story? Are all stories poetry, then? Are there guidelines or do you just write whatever, in whatever style? What about the length of it--can it be as short as a few lines? Could someone just give me an idea of what's expected? Thanks, Gene [This message has been edited by u_gene (edited 04-07-2000).] |

I'm informed, there is basicly no difference between prose and a short story, nor does the lenght of the piece matters. Read through some of the prose here and I'm sure you'll get a better idea. Some write a chapter from a book, some write a story and some write about a dandelion. It's an awesome place here Gene and I'm happy to see you here. : ) [This message has been edited by Munda (edited 04-07-2000).] |

Thanks, Munda. I just wrote something this morning that I think I'll post. It's really my first serious attempt at prose. When i was in highschool, we would have to write compositions of course, but i was never any good at it. Let me know what you think. I wrote it because of the post by Blondie. It reminded me of my father. ~Gene |
