Is it who we are, that makes our friends? Or is it our friends, who make us who we are?

To answer this question, you need to step back, and take a look at who you are, and who your friends are. Those are the two elements: yourself, and your friends. Take away one element, either who you are, or who your friends are. If you can take away who your friends are, and still remain the same, it is you who makes your friends. If you can take away yourself, but your friends remain the same, it is your friends who make you who you are.

But if you are like most, as I do expect, and cannot take away either element without changing the other, it is both you who shapes your friends, and your friends who shape you.

This is dedicated to all of my great friends who have been there for me, cared for me, and trusted me to help them. Tell your friends how important they are to you because it is important. Though most of them will never read this, “I love you guys.”

A great tribute! And I want to go one step further, and say that EVERYONE shapes who we are, and we have an affect on everyone. We are made by a multitude of inputs and experiences! Friends are those who help us decide what we wish to make of it!

Friends are definetly important in ones life. I know I love mine and am very grateful for them all. Great thought MW.
