Lucky Lady

Years ago
when my marriage
was failing
and I couldn't
seem to do anything right
to save it;
the California Courts
had narrowed the laws
down to a matter
of irresolvable differences,
I guess that meant you had tried to solve
the problems in your marriage but couldn't,
anyway later when we ended up in court
the judge told me what that meant;
he said, if one person decided they
no longer wanted to be married
to the other person there
was no longer a marriage,
he told me this after I had told him
"I Don't want a divorce.";
but anyway before all that happened
silly me had come up with a wonderful
romantic way to perhaps save our marriage,
the plan was to invite my separated wife
to meet me for lunch at Knott's Berry Farm
where hopefully we would have a wonderful time
and also I would surprise her with a dozen roses,
and hopefully we would start a new beginning;
unfortunately she didn't show up for that lunch,
so after a time of waiting in front of the
restaurant, instead of standing there by myself
with a dozen roses I gave them to a lucky lady
in front of the restaurant and sadly walked away.

I lived in Southern California for a few years and visited Knott's Berry Farm many times. I lived in several communities such as Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Orange and Huntington Beach.

Okay, that's my brief bio. Now to your tale...

That is incredibly sad James. There's always particulars, but as you wrote it, it is so very sad.

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

Thank you Ticklefinger for reading and responding, it was sad to go with high expectations and leave with low realizations...I lived in Southern California for many a year and recognize the places you mention...james
