Republican Base Loses Faith Lets see now... precisely what happened in the Potomic Primaries... DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (98% of precincts) Barack Obama (D) 85,534 votes Hillary Clinton (D) 27,326 votes John McCain (R) 3,929 votes MARYLAND (84% of precincts) Barack Obama (D) 409,239 votes Hillary Clinton (D) 247,817 votes John McCain (R) 136,708 votes VIRGINIA (99% of precincts) Barack Obama (D) 619,036 votes Hillary Clinton (D) 345,018 votes John McCain (R) 242,578 votes Looks like the Republican Base has lost its faith... Wonder which Party will be winning in November? Thanks Senator John McCain. JamesLee 14February 2008 Reference:Honolulu Star Bulletin February 13, 2008, page A1 STARBULLETIN.COM Election Dynamics- The Republicans aren't turning out because they don't like the Candidate. Many Republicans are independent and want Conservative, not Moderate Candidates such as John McCain. [This message has been edited by JamesMichael (02-14-2008 06:19 PM).] |

Your numbers show a staggering dichotomy in the devoted participation of the two parties. Although I tend to swing Democrat, it is disheartening to see that there isn't a strong choice on the right. It is always nice to have competitive and definitive options...something that I fear will not be available this election. |

Thank you amusemi for the nice response... yes I to would like to see a better competition, as the Democrats have a rather good one going now, which seems to be favoring Obama at the moment...I consider McCain to be too old at 71 and more of a moderate than a conservative to be running as a popular Republican candidate, and the numbers seem to reflect that as many Republicans are not getting out to vote for him...if he were to choose Romney or Huckabee as his running mate, in other words to lean more towards the conservative members of the Republican Party, perhaps he will gain more voters...if you or anyone is interested in the beliefs of a conservative, you can go to gopusa.com and click on The Loft, and find "Contract With Conservatives"...it lays it out pretty nice...James |
