These are the same aisles you shopped every Saturday when wedded bliss was a quest for a ripe juicy cantaloupe, the perfect lamb chop, a lazy Sunday afternoon roast medium rare for two with enough leftover for a bedtime snack on white bread with hot mustard. This is where you bought the curry and chili that seasoned my ordinary days with unforgettable flavors, exotic and savory.
In aisle number nine near the green bottled wine, there’s still a hint of the scent of you hidden behind dusty rows of Chenin Blanc on offer ever since you’ve been gone. The greens have all wilted in your absence, the fruit become bitter and hard on the tooth; the chops turned into pig’s feet, the chips into pork rinds, but every Saturday morning the automatic door still opens and closes, opens and closes.

Brief, succinct, filled with imagery...not hard to imagine sitting in your chair at all.
