Another sort of long story but I think this one has a little bit more "purpose" in it.. Hope you enjoy. Every life has a purpose or so I like to believe. Sometimes that purpose will not be known to others or yourself. The heart always finds away to get past the simple things making other situations more difficult. Sometimes life seems like it was put on hold and you have to wait. Patience is not something I hold but when life stops there I guess you have to stop also. They say the blind can't see and the deaf can't hear. Why is this? The blind may not see you and I and the world they live in but they see in their head. They imagine what an object may look like. So therefore they really do see after all. The deaf cannot hear what you and I say but they can hear what's inside their head. They know what's going on. They read people with the actions and expressions used. So therefore the deaf can hear if intended. What is so different from being blind and deaf, to being without love. Your heart is more dramatic than anything else. Some say that it doesn't have eyes nor ears so therefore it cannot love. But the heart can listen and see just as well as a blind or a deaf person. Though things are not looked at the same way. Sometimes you have to dig deeper than you would for gold and feel more than you would for memories. Life is made up of having to go further than you want to go and seeing more then what you want to see. But seeing and hearing with your eyes and ears is something that only a blind or deaf person would appreciate with their heart. But when we really sit down and think about it the blind and deaf have it better off because they get to see and hear with their HEART! something that a lot of us lack. Those who understand with their heart can truly say that they see with their eyes and hear with their ears. But no one was ever promised patience. Those who have it have it pretty well. While those who lack the time can never tell what their going to do or what measures they're going to take to get there. Most of the time they screw up because they can't wait and sometimes it's better because things are said that need to be said. So, in conclusion, who really says that the blind live worse off and the impatient never stop and look around because they don't have time. The way I see it, all can understand with the head but the heart is what gives life it's purpose. |

This is a curious little philosophical piece. I'm not convinced that the blind necessarily spend their time imagining what seeing might be like. In fact, as I read further through your piece I got the sense that you meant the verb seeing (on the part of those who are blind) and hearing (those who are deaf) in a figurative sense. But still, the first bit bothered me a little: quote: Suppose you had never seen before. I once heard a blind man mention (on a radio program, I believe) that being blind is seeing with your foot. It just doesn't make sense. Suppose you were an animal that naturally had no eyes. Would you have a concept of what things looked like? As to seeing with the heart, I am still not certain that this piece really convinces me that the blind or the deaf have much of a better time of things morally or spiritually than the rest of us. A blind woman still has to put her pants on one leg at a time. Any idiot can see that the result is true. |

I like your view on things.. and I see what you meant when you said that the blind not being able to imagine what an object may look like becuase they have never seen.. and about the blind and deaf maybe not having more intense spiritual connections than everyone else.. and your right.. this whole thing was figurative.. nothing meant to be.. like reality.. it was just a thought.. I wrote it when I was about 13 so.. it might not meet many standards as an amature.. but I'm glad you replied and told me what you did.. I love to see how many different people can view a subject.. many different ways.. thank you for your time reading and replying. ~Heather Desire nothing except desirelessness. A beautiful piece for one so young. I believe that we listen and see in many ways...especially through our hearts. Good write. |
