Second Lives

Some say....
  I talk too much but they rarely listen;
the tones of hurt, the struggling of self,
the meanings behind the words, not understanding
or taking the time.
Ignorant of the intelligence that resides within,
second judging, always, until the pulling away
is a necessity.

Sensitivity being my downfall, the need
to defend each idea, each word, each feeling
and thought. Whenever those you love or trust
can't accept...what else is there???

Too old to start over, too old to change
who I am, too long having lost self confidence
and finally regaining it, to have it stolen again.

Second lives are too short.
Their needs too strong...
in the wait of happiness.

M

"Second lives are too short"

I don't think anything more true has been said.

Sometimes it seems we learn and grow into who we really are when we are too old to enjoy it to the fullest.

I must agree with Susan on this one.
