It was clearly a case of love at first sight. The morning being sunny and warm, Todd leaned idly on the rail of his own balcony overlooking the busy boulevard, watching the quick moving traffic and the passers-by on the wide sidewalks. He was a fine specimen of a young man, with his sun-bronzed body well exposed in just his shorts. Usually the street scene fascinated him with its varied cross section of humanity, individuals busy on personal errands or just strolling in the dappled sunshine. The girl was at the edge of the curb, reclining on the shiniest bike he had ever seen. She was obviously waiting for her escort or friend, who, in all probability, was visiting in this same building. He was at a most advantageous point in which he now eagerly beheld the radiant vision. She was a veritable dream of beauty with her fair curls crowing a beautifully tanned young body, also clothed in an attractive summer outfit. Her wandering gaze had idly settled on the boy adorning the balcony, but demurely was now generally observing the passing life of the thoroughfare. There was no shadow of doubt however, that she had noticed him. It was not going to be easy attracting her attention, thought Todd, let alone making her fully aware of his alerted interest. He did not want to appear completely bold, but he just had to meet her, as he knew this truly was love at first sight. Nothing he could do at this moment would have effect; yet so wonderful an opportunity might never occur again for a long time. Perhaps the girl’s friend would emerge before the direct contact had been made, and she would speed away on that fabulous bike, leaving his emotions in suspense and definitely behind, with the probability of another meeting very remote. The problem was solved however in a very surprising manner. A voice at his elbow brought him back to reality from his daydream reverie. “Todd, your lunch is ready dear. If you be a good boy now and hurry, your Dad and I will take you and your sister to the park, so you two can play together on the swings, how does that sound?" "Can You Resist" by Kim Anderson . Love At First Sight... yes, that's how it was for me, so many years ago. Maybe it's a once in a lifetime occurrence. I hope not... Thanks for the memory... M |

Thank you for reading my silly story, but actually take it up about 15 years and it is almost true. My son saw my daughter-in-love and fell for her instantly. Here they are 11 years later with two girls and a lot of memories so far. |

Thank you Pat and Martie, and Martie you are right that love happens - LOL, four times for me! Now they are going to have to be a multi-millionaire that looks like a Greek God, driving a Mazarati to their Lear jet, while rubbing my feet at the same time - IF there should be a next time! |

Sharon, ========================= her fair curls crowing a beautifully tanned young body ========================= I'm pretty certain her curls were crowning. You know of course how much I love this. Almost as much as I love how your mind works. I think these series of kid pics are awesome. Keep writing prose, please! If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
