Dandelions and Lupins Flowers have many symbolic personalities. They are given to others for many different reasons. They are given at birth for celebration of new life. They are given in token of friendship. They are given in hopes that you will forgive the one how has done something wrong. They are also given to the one you cherish and love. It’s wonderful to receive flowers from the one you love regardless of what type they are. When my children were young, how proud they were to pick the yellow dandelions that grew in the front yard. “Here you go Mom” they would say so happily, “We picked these pretty flowers just for you.” I would put them in a vase and smile at my children. “Oh They are just beautiful” and my heart swelled knowing they did this out of Love. When I arrived at work on day, all my co-workers greeted my as I walked through the door. I could tell they were anxious. “Quick” they said in unisense “you must check out the cooler.” “What now, is the cooler broken again?” I asked with a sigh. Expecting the worse I headed to the big cooler we had. As I opened the door, sitting on the shelf before me was the most exquisite bouquet of Long stem red rose I had ever seen. I turned and asked, “My Goodness, who received the roses? They are gorgeous.” “They are yours” they said. “Who are they from? We are dying to know.” As I read the card, my smile widened upon my face. “ I don’t believe it!” I exclaimed. “They are from my friend I met on line in Canada. He says they are just because, and he signed it from your friend up North.” The flowers he sent me that day kept me walking on cloud nine. I had never received such a gift of friendship before. Who was to know it would lead to so much more. We met in person for the first time late that summer. From that first meeting on it was and still is a love story in the making. When I first went to Nova Scotia to visit, he had flowers to welcome me. Romantic is the word that comes to mind. Never have I been so showered with such affection. This love story continues with me moving to Nova Scotia to be with him. Our Love is like no other we have ever felt before. On Valentines Day he had planned a scavenger hunt. Oh it was so much fun. Every clue leads me to find something that made our love so real. It included a Red Rose, to Show his ever lasting Love, a Pink Rose for his Passion, and a Yellow Rose for the best friend I have. Yep, Romantic wasn’t it! Spring has arrived and along with spring comes the bloom of new flowers. One flower I have never seen before is called a Lupin. Oh They are a sight to see. They grow wild along the road side. I told him those are such very pretty flowers. I would love to have that type of flower in a garden when we have our own home someday. I had been working a lot of night shifts which meant I usually slept during the day. This one Sunday he was heading over to see his parents. I was so tired I was unable to go with him. So I stayed home and slept. When he arrived home, I saw he was caring something in his hands. “Here ya go,” he said with a smile. “I missed you today and as I was driving home I was thinking of you. I remember you telling me about how pretty you thought the Lupins are. I picked these for you to brighten up your day.” “Oh, they are just beautiful” I replied and my heart swelled knowing he did this out of Love. -------------- |
