Hey all. I'm new to this poetry thing. I heard about it from my girlfriend who uploads some of her poems on here (Baby_Angel123) and just came here to check out her poems. As I read some of them I began to think that I might be able to write a poem but I'm stuck on how to form it. I'm not one to follow a specific form like some you may see such as abab or something like that. I'm more of a free verse writer. But the thing is how do I know if what I'm writing is a poem or just an essay or something? If you could tell me and maybe e-mail some answers back to me that would be greatly appreshated. ([email protected]) Thanks!! ~Dan P.S. I can't spell to well lol!! |

You know you don't have to follow a specific form I myself don't do it You also don't have to rhyme You can write in free verse It's basically writing down exactly what you feel Just follow the guidelines of the site though no obscene words, no harm to anyone or one's self good luck in writing là où est mon amour? |

Hi Dan, Good for you Just write your feelings down And you will see that writing free verse isn't that hard at all Just don't make the lines too long you hear for it will be too hard to read Look around at Open# and you'll find some really fine free verses For now I welcome you and I'm looking forward to read your first poem Good luck to you Titia A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess... |
