I'm new here. I don't know if anyone can help me with this one, but it's driving me CRAZY!! I have a line running through my head of late, and I can't for the life of me remember where it comes from. It's "Come with me and be my love..." and it's baffling me. It seems as if it was something I must have recited to an old flame or something, but I can't recall. (Of course, knowing me, it could be something I made up. I'm sure not this time. I know it's from someplace else). HELP!! Does someone know it?

Perhaps it comes from this poem?
quote:

Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon rocks,
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of roses
And a thousand fragrant poises,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool
Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;

A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me, and be my love.

The shepherd's swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.
~Christopher Marlowe 1599

Or perhaps it is an old song stuck in your head as is the case many times. The following by Phil Phillips (from the 1950s) and later covered by The Honeydrippers had a very catchy hook that would stick in you head. The words aren't exact but could be easily confused.

Sea Of Love
Phil Phillips

Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you

Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you

Come with me, to the sea

etc.... lol-- forgot the rest

There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar.

Thank you so much!! I can finally sleep at night!! Don't you hate it when you can't remember things like that? I must be getting old.
