Hi there. I hope someone reading this can help me out some. I was watching the movie "Patch Adams" and in it he is saying a poem to his girlfriend. I don't know the title or author, but the poem is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard, and I'd like to quote part of it in my marriage vows. Some of the lines I remember from it are

I love you simply, without complexities or pride
I love you because I know no other way than this
So close that your hand on my chest is mine
So close that when you close your eyes, I sleep.

PLEASE! IF YOU KNOW THIS POEM, EMAIL ME AT
TIGERMILK08@AOL.COM!  Thanks much.

TigerMilk~
I know !  I know !

This poem was the basis of the poem Patch Adams read in the movie by the same name.
It was altered for the movie.

Pablo Neruda - 100 Love Sonnets
Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were the salt-rose,
topaz or arrow of carnations that propagate fire.
I love you as certain dark things are loved,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn't bloom
and carries hidden within itself the light of those flowers,
and thanks to your love, darkly in my body lives the dense fragrance that rises from the earth.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride
I love you in this way because I don't know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you,

so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand,
so intimate that when I fall asleep it is your eyes that close.

Is this just lovely or what ?
I'm e-mailing it to you also !

Thanks for visiting here and we hope
you will return and join the greatest
family of poets on the Internet !
Best wishes to you for your wedding.
