I'm looking for poems (preferably online) by a poettess: Laurence Alma Tadema She is the daughter of a very famous painter: Lawrence Alma Tadema: who not only often spelled his name like hers, but entitled several paintings with the words 'poem' and 'poetry' in the title. As such, all search queries are overwhelmed by returns for her father. I've only found two poems of hers ('The Robin' and 'Playgrounds') besides the popular one some people might have read . Her poem that some people may know is If No One Ever Marries Me: (Which is sometimes falsely attributed to her father) If no one ever marries me - And I don't see why they should, For nurse syas I'm not pretty, And I'm seldom very good - If no one ever marries me I shan't mind very much, I shall buy a squirrel in a cage And a little rabbit-hutch; I shall have a cottage near a wood, And a pony all my own And a little lamb, quite clean and tame, That I can take to town. And when I'm getting really old - At twenty-eight or nine - I shall buy a little orphan-girl And bring her up as mine. Thanks a ton for any help. |
