A speed reader, yes, a bot - no. I find Watcher to be quite genuine and a thorough reader of most all poetry posted here...As well as a gifted poet.

.....not to mention the fact that anyone who does a lot of comment posting doesn't have a lot of time for lengthy diatribes....

Thanks, Doreen... I thought perhaps I was being naive not knowing what a bot is. *S*

Whatever a bot is or is not, to even imply criticism because someone uses the same phrases over and over (unless those phrases are derogatory... and I've never seen such from Watcher) is an injustice. I don't post many poems... but I sincerely appreciate every reply that indicates someone has read my work and found something worthwhile in it. That takes time from their day that they don't have to spend on me... they owe me absolutely nothing! It would be so easy for them to not read or read and not comment at all... I'm guilty of the latter many, many times a day. I think that asking someone to (or even implying they should) take the time they could be devoting to their own work to find some unique thing to say about each and every one of my poems and every other poet's work is asking something we have no right to ask.

I ditto Doreen....I have never heard that term before but I do know it offends me by the implications.
I think,IMHO,that the poets that post here are very happy to know that someone has taken the time to read and reply to their work.....whether the reply is detailed, or short but sweet.

I think Balladeer's a "Bot"...even though I don't know what it is...He says the same thing about all my excellent work....sure, he says it in different ways, but they're all mean?...LOL

I suspect it's an abbreviation of robot... programmed responses. And once again, no one owes you any response whatsoever. No one is obligated to read a poem no matter how many "please reads" are added to the title. When they do read and comment, they're giving you a gift of their time.

And Toe... you may be right... but ya gotta admit, he's got some hellacious programming! LOL. No matter how mean he is to your sweet self, he never seems to repeat an insult! *G*

A bot is indeed something that sends automated responses. But more over it is a digital host or moderator. If you go to a chat there well always be a "bot" host at the top of the chatter's list (at the top at least if you use MSChat). These bots are programmed to upkeep the rules of the chat. For example if certain rude words are used that the rl host (the one in charge of the server on which the chat takes place) doesn't like, the bot will automatically kick the offender out of the room. Or it will "spec" the swearer. That means that you can watch but not talk. You would have to sign off the chat, and log back in to get your voice back. These and others are what bots do.
Hope that was of help
Angel

well sometimes innocent seeming questions can still hurt, and even though I don't think this was intended to hurt Watcher, it could have if all here hadn't injected humor and stood up for what is right. I appreciate Watcher for reading and commenting on all the poems, it is a wonder, I only get to read some and even then don't get to comment on those just for lack of time, that Watcher takes the time to read AND comment says a lot ...here's my thanks added to the list above

and ROFG@fem's bot's....
