I read through that thread in the guidelines on profanity and recently in the Insights forum there was a debate about it also. I'm left with a couple questions.
It appears to me that any word that is illegal on prime-time network television is unwelcome anywhere here.
I have no debate about that, if indeed it is the case, however I'm unclear... A poem in the Mature Content designated area was recently critisized as being profane, for simply using an "adult" word- the poem in question was neither violent or sexual.
This doesn't seem to be in keeping with the very concept of having a "mature content" locked area. So, to be clear, if I wanted to post something which in my best judgement is good poetry, but is nontheless not "family-friendly" (i.e. deals with sexual material and contains a four-letter word or two), where, if at all, could I post that here?

Possibly in these areas:

Behind Closed Doors
Grok This
Love for Two

If it is unacceptable by the hardware setup, it will show as asterisks

Mature Content covers a very wide spectrum, which is precisely why we have more than one forum in that area. The entire MC area is for adults and adults only, but each forum addresses different sensibilities or purposes.

Grok This is a discussion forum, not for poetry or prose. There are a few words, most beginning with the letter F, which are not allowed.

Insights is generally for topics that are adult, but not necessarily sexual. Again, the same few words are not allowed.

Love for Two is generally for mild erotica. The same few words are not allowed.

Behind Closed Doors can cover any adult topic. There are NO language restriction in place at all.

Additionally, it's important to understand that even our adult content should not be construed as "anything goes." There are NO FORUMS on this site for gratuitous violence or poetry/prose that advocates or glorifies harm to another.

Hope that helps (and welcome to the forums!) . . .

Thanks Ron.
I will probably have to refer back to your reply a few more times, til I get it down.

Red Dreams,

the post I believe you were referring to was originally posted in Open, moved from Open to Deputy Mod Squad, then to Mature.
