“Encourage Critiques: Yes” Is that to be taken as true, and when and where are you supposed to do it? John |

You can manage your profile, John, by going into the Member's Area/Help section and clicking on "Change Your Profile". Look through that, and you will see where you can request that people leave a critique on your original post - generally used for poetry and prose. A lot of people do not choose that option and instead, go ahead and post their poetry and/or prose directly into the Critical Analysis area. If you have any other questions, please let us know. |

So I’m looking at someone’s profile. It says regarding Encourage Critiques: “Yes” and he posts a poem on Open Poetry #34. Do I take it that he wants and I should post a critique on Open Poetry #34 or is it only appropriate if the poem was posted at Critical Analysis #2? John |

A constructive critique can be given any time you see someone's Critique Box open for such a response on that post. So if you see it in Open, then they are asking, in essence, "please, go ahead and give me some feedback," Adhere to their remarks, i.e,. "I'm shy" or "It's my first time, be gentle" taking into mind that most of our members take their poetry very seriously, and very personally. |

Sunshine, "someone's Critique Box open for such a response on that post." What does it look like and where would I find it, (I may have never seen it)? John |

You'll find a note from the poet (a part of their profile) directly above the message box where you type your reply to their poetry. It won't show in the discussion forums - only on their poems. This will tell you whether they choose for readers to critique or not to critique. Most are open to constructive comments, but we do honor their wishes if they opt for none. Just another PiP "hidden feature"... ![]() |
