Hi everyone! I got a new computer, and was trying to run the windows upgrade. It said I should install something called "Service Pack 2". Other poeple have told me not to install this upgrade, because it will mess up your computer. Does anyone know what this "Service Pack 2" is? Will it really mess up your computer? I don't want to mess up my brand new computer. And, I don't know anything, when it comes to upgrading windows. Your help would be appreciated.

I have XP, and am still operating under service pack 1, but will upgrade to service pack 2 next week after saving some files. I spoke with someone today who did the service pack 2 install and had no problems. I might have to go and download some updated drivers though, as my PC is two years old and might not be current on some things. Since it's a new PC and you haven't started putting a bunch of files on your hard drive, I'd think this would be the ideal time to bring it all up to the most current security standards. But I'm not a programmer, so you may want to chat with others before doing this. I'm going to do my upgrade Tuesday or Wednesday, and shall keep my fingers crossed I don't lock up any files. LOL, maybe I should welcome a lockout, it might make me pick up a paintbrush again.

And, expecially thank you Ron for taking time to reply. I think maybe, I better not update to the windows service pack 2, because I sure don't know how to fix anything.
