I know this one isn't worthy of CA but I thought we might use a little levity in here from time to time. I hope the words (concept more likely) are acceptable ~anxiously awaits Brad's DELETE button~ This is little verse version of a little story we have all heard. I hope it is original enough. It's called . . . Flying My Kite A windy day in early May And I was outside trying To fly a fancy kite I bought But it just wasn't flying. I'd get it up but not for long, In spite of efforts all 'Twould spin around and dive and then The blasted thing would fall. Then from the window yelled my wife, "Now this just won't suffice. You look So bloody stupid there", And offered this advice: "My dear, I think I know just what Would surely make it sail. It seems that what you really need Is just a little tail." Ironic words to come from her For it was just last night I asked her for that very thing; She said "Go fly a kite." Pete What terms shall I find sufficiently simple in their sublimity -- sufficiently sublime in their simplicity -- for the mere enunciation of my theme? Edgar Allan Poe |

Pete, you're a cheeseball! I read this to my wife a few minutes ago and she is still laughing about it. The meter and rhyme was the icing on the cake for this one. Never choppy, never forced, and so much more fun to write, I bet, than those blasted sonnets! Thanks for the laugh and my wife thanks you too. Later. Jim "If I rest, I rust." - Martin Luther |

Thanks for the laugh, everyone needs one every now and again. Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool: But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet. |

Pete, A great big LOL! I'm sure if I heard it in an English accent, delivered in a droll manner, it would be hilarious. Nice work, Pete, Kristine |

Well, since we seem to be writing suggestive sorts of poems these days, I thought I would join in and be part of the "in crowd." I don't have any new ideas so to make it easy on myself, I'm bringing back this old one. Hope nobody objects too much about that Pete [This message has been edited by Not A Poet (edited 07-11-2000).] |

Pete. Very funny. I got a kick out of that. The last line is a riot. Keep 'em coming. I could do with a good laugh every now and then. |
