END OF DAYS They walked together in the pale moon light, and gaunt old man, walking hand in hand, with his daughter at his side... They talked of the days, and of memories and pain, and their lives, and how the years flew so idily by... "I'm sorry, " he said, "for all the pain I've caused, and the hurt that you felt, through those silencing years..." "But I'm here now, walking in the pale moon light, watching your face and wondering how, I could leave such and Angel in disguise." "If you forgive me tonight, and I promise to stay, together we could live such beautiful lives." "I'd watch over you now... and stay with you until the end of your days..." She looked up at him in the pail moon light, his wrinkled face, so sadly displaced, and looking so old and so tired... She thought of the days, and of innocence and pain, and her life, after the painful goodbyes... "I loved you, " she said, "throughout my whole life, even through the hurt you caused, and all my pain and strife," "But your here now, walking in the pale moonlight, standing together and wondering how, we could ever leave each others sides..." "If I forgive you tonight, and you promise to stay, it would make the past seem so perfectly right..." "If you'd watch over me now... and stay with me until the end of your days..." They walked together through many a night, talking of love, their gifts from above, and walking side by side... But then came a day, when she would be taken away. He had grown, and now he would walk forever alone... "I'm sorry, " he said, "for taking your life, and the pain that I caused, on all the restless nights..." "But I loved you, through all of the hurt and pain, and all of the tragedy we've been through, I would walk through it all over again..." So I could hold you tonight, and talk with you again, and walk down the street with you by my side..." "holding on to your love... and staying with you until the end of your days..." |

I like the picture of the scenery in this. But I'm afraid I'm a bit confused. The speaking parts give the image of an older man walking with an old friend, lover, etc.. But the first stanza says "with his daughter at his side...". If not for that line, I would have assumed that the person walking with the older man was a lover, but that line kind of threw me.. Can you clarify this for me? ------------------ Tout s'en va, tout passe, l'eau coule, et le couer oublie. |
