Admiration forsaken and shoved aside
Like that annoying neighbor who talks too much

My hands do not clasp for him
My strength speaks to silence my wishful thinking
A brush with Fate, brushed off
Brushed away.

  I may have interpreted this wrong, but it seems to me that you are the desired and the subject is the rejected. Kudos! That's a twist. You certainly know how to get on the good side(s) of people who dislike cliche. Bravo.

Thanks to the both of you. I can tell you that both interpretations can be validated... as I've been on both sides. However, when it was written, it was intended to be about the speaker admiring someone unreachable, but I thank you for pointing out another view. (I love it when people do that!) *grin*

Great writing! I had to re-read, because I also thought you were speaking of someones love the speaker rejected, but it all makes sense now.Very touching piece.
