Waiting for the Late Show That absent-minded god of hers is in his abstract form, who lives only in her dreams. All night long the questions probe tireless thoughts. The bed no relief. She can't hear him sneak wearing a new fragrance, a disturbing scent of guilt. So late, he sleeps in den, snoring. Hidden. Day after day, the mornings offer breakfast with excuse. His mouth talks too much. She could speak her frustration, keeps it secret, holds back--all he does and gives: promises good for a no-show. 1999 - Leon J. W. |

phew- i am so glad that this didn't turn out to be about waiting for the late show to come on tv. that would've been to much for me.... definitely. i think that you make your point well in this piece. also, some nice imagery That absent-minded god of hers is in his abstract form, who lives only in her dreams. i don't see how this poem fits in with the rest of the poem. who is the god? is it like a judeo-christian god? or does it refer rather to the relationship she has with this person? good job on this, though. |

Good writing, enjoyed it very much, but Roxane does have a good question concerning the first few lines. Of course you know what you are referring to, whatever it is it putting distance between the two people concerned, that is obvious. |
