Don't anesthetize the meaning of love Its deeper than you think We sing of sex drugs cars money money money Music is life Right? Music is true Right? Not always Neither is poetry Neither am I But I know what I feel And feelings are never wrong Aretha had it right R-E-S-P-E-C-T Know what it means to me? Love Love to me is utmost respect comfortability plays at 2:00 holding hands at 11:00 smoking a poem in afterthought feel his fingers cold and sweaty massage your heart back to love Let the birds show you sharing the trees show you caring her eyes show you pain Love hurts only as it fades but now I see a cool breeze in June How can life be so bad when love is so good? When hearing her voice saves drunken sailors flies kites and gets you stoned love is good. ~"Eschew Surplusage"~ -Mark Twain |

You have a couple of interesting lines here but this seems more of a polemic to me. Are you trying for a kind of automatic writing here? Stop asking questions or questioning yourself with the tag questions, right? Try to get the poem to go deeper, perhaps as deep as you feel about love itself. Realise that drugs and music are not always as appreciated (nor should they be) as you seem to think in this piece. Lines I liked: smoking a poem in afterthought When hearing her voice saves drunken sailors flies kites Maybe try to expand on these images? Just an opinion, Brad |
