Alone
By Paul Wilson

Tried my best to make a difference
All my life through hard times and good
Rode the raging rapids of life
Like a useless piece of driftwood

Life full of pipe dreams and failures
Spent my life trying to fit in
Went toe to toe with the very best
Failed again much to my chagrin

Spent most my days singing the blues
No one ever listens to my song
Playing the game of life each day
Reaper coming... been here to long

Nothing seems to matter to me
Rapids getting rougher to run
No way to know where I’ll wind up
Beginning of end has begun

Flames of soul reduced to embers
From Heaven… white horse does descend
Coming for my spirit tonight
Together in death we ascend

Time means nothing to me you see
Just another way to mark years
Of loneliness spent without you
My time has come I’ll dry my tears

Dark of night quickly approaches
As lightning lights up the night sky
Alone with just my memories
I think I’ll just lay here and die
Alone

Felt this.  It cut to the bone.  Waiting together, waiting alone, my friend.

Michael...I thought the title might catch your attention. Was inspired by the ending of a western movie I watched Saturday. Thanks for understanding. I hope you are doing well my friend...Paul

You guys are killing me! Talk about morbidity of mindset! Well, written, but... let's eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die!

John...I know what you mean. But after living the lives we've lived and drank half the booze in America what else is there LOL
Thanks for the read and reply John...Paul

All my doctors told me I had to stop drinking, it was killing them.
