The Can Opener

To the can opener.
I am the can
of smelly tuna
left out in the sun,
avoided by all,
with a hard on for
"I'm sorry";
remembering the memories
that dented the ego.

The can opener
sees through the
tiny, thin, tin can,
fermenting rage,
with X-ray vision,
isn't afraid because
Mother is near;
puts up a mirror
so darkness can be seen
thus letting in
the Light.

We clean the discarded can thoroughly before it goes in the recycle bin

Enjoyed the read

"puts up a mirror
so darkness can be seen
thus letting in
the Light."

that is a very powerful ending.

Good to see you here e-girl.

... living our lives as consumers around such an object as a tuna can and its opener is how I see your thought provoking poem...nice ending too!

I haven't been on the site much lately and hadn't seen this. Very well done. Your poetry is getting deeper.
