Americans are proud of their corn fields,
I’m proud to be an American,
Because I love corn,
And I respect those who feed the earth.

I am proud of the wind blowing on the green wheat fields,
I’m proud of the tornadoes that cross Oklahoma,
And put the man in his place,
Even if I cry all the houses destroyed.

I’m proud to be an American,
To slow down behind a combine,
Driving From downtown Denver, a mountainous city, to Los Angeles
Following the furrows of the vast expanses of sapphires.

This poem reminds me of my grandmother.
She was so proud to have immigrated to America.
She never looked back but embraced her new country with honor, love and unwavering patriotism.
