I confess I was smitten by a girl in my class I loved her long flowing hair...every strand My heart was played by love’s relentless, crushing pass It was a time when love was fresh and new to me Turning every single waking thought...to her, and liberating inside me, what it was to be I always thought you were the prettiest girl and my infatuation for you has never diminished My love turned true and I no longer feel hurt In Dallas, on my cheek our first kiss you laid, the lightness of your lips ever-lingering in me...like a breath I feel it still, knowing its warmth will never fade An ember in my heart was set ablaze that through many years was held from public view You know you still make me spin with cupid’s craze Now, I sow and mow easing every creeping sun, unwinding and replacing fate’s thin threads, to spin a skein where we can at last, be as one That I’ve hurt some once near and dear would be true, but their tangled woven webs needed to be unwound, and ‘til time stops, my darling, know this… I do love you...and I always will, NMW ...just bein' Bluesy |
