((a little old (2003), but still . . . apropros, I think)

Early Morning Bliss

Early morning -
sitting on the porch
watching pre-sun fog shroud bushes,
trees, patches of yard,
first avian singers of the day.

Thoughts on you, still in bed,
drowsing in just loved slumber,
the smell of you still with me,
the touch of you still soft on my hand,
your lips still lingering,
the sounds of love still swirling. . .
in my head.

Morning,
dawn's softness. . .
one, as surely as the love
wrapping our souls around and through,
over and under,
in an homogenous blend
of heat and splendor,
color and light.

Love, God's own,
in the early morning mist -
you and I. . .
the cause of it all.

Happy Valentines, my love -
Now, come here . . .
again.
