Fair to middlin' of nowhere

What the mind holds captive
locks tighter than any bonds
of concrete and steel.
What we do or do not choose
to relinquish control over,
real or imagined,
is buried deep within.
The great mystery being
why we can sometimes
change our minds
in an instant
but for somethings never.
For good or ill
we will not budge.
Change is beyond our grasp,
until such time as we find it isn’t.

Sounds like a definition for stubbornness, Miss Lori.
Freedom is worth fighting for...but when
you're the one doing the fighting, you don't feel all that free.

Bluesy,
You said it! You are right about fighting and stubbornness. I was also thinking in terms of my diabetes and what a struggle it is to eat right and exercise and some days seem impossible and others easy. So much of what we do is based on baloney in our heads that really isn't all that important, it's just habit and routine--until we try to change it.
