Last night I was accosted by White Russians at Chucks. One was a double and somebody bought me one twice and the old man bought the first one. By my calculations that would make, uh, me snockered. I calculated correctly. My articulation became a curious thing, a cross between baby talk and Novocain. And my normal sensuous sway was more of a stiff stilted stagger on the way to powder my nose. I was really rather boring. I didn’t fall down or laugh till I peed. I did, in my uninhibited state, make a few friends watch a 4 minute video of my grandkids on my new phone. I was having a good time with the Russians, feeling pretty loopy. When I happened to notice my eyelids getting droopy. I pronounced I was done. All my friends had left, save one I brought with me. The ride home was brief, I must’ve fallen asleep. I scurried for the door feeling whiney the bitter cold freezing my hiney. My birthday wasn’t over to my surprise. One last gift in the bedroom, close my eyes…. LGR©12/31/17 |
