We stood on the driveway in the evening,
our shadows on the pavement were long and distorted
...elegantly stretched.

So you posed with your hands in the air, your head tossed back,
your dark brown hair cascading, while I traced your outline
...with a bit of chalk.

Moving...you left a semi-permanent, stunning pastel silhouette

Then you traced mine beside you, hovering over me
clutching the chalk, you slowly traced me
…and we stood and stared

I voiced no jealousy, though the outline of our bodies
was closer than ours ever had been
...Then, you embraced me

I never wanted it to be day or night ever again,
I only wanted to trace those dark, mimicking shadows
...as they hugged on the driveway

Before dark came, she left dusty yellow handprints on the backside of my jeans
I couldn’t buy enough chalk to trace the width of her smile
...or my own

...just bein' Bluesy

This is especially good Bluesy! It takes me back to younger days when attraction was less complicated. You got yourself a winner here. ~L

Thank you so much, Miss Lori. I feel it's good to recall the simple life and to look ahead to a day when it may return.

I still have a shadow and I still have chalk!
