As sunlight's last dance of the evening
disappears into a crimson horizon,
the slow melancholy musical of her heart's piano
plays to me in a soft monotone of deaf harmony

I close the intricate blinds and curtains
of patterned, embroidered fabrics as her piano
reverberates deeply, serenading me
as I paint a portrait of my extinguished memories
