Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2017-09-14 06:00 PM

It is the autumn
of my life.
My summer’s long gone
but for hot flashes.
I did not try to make
summer last forever.
I wallowed in those days.
Now I’m soft and slow
and tight things don’t
become me.
Wisps of gray
are in my hair
and taking over
my eyebrows
and I’m fine with that.
I’m not so much bothered
by my shape and size
as I am about the fact
I’m not healthy
and I’m not
doing much about it.
I’ve been preoccupied.
Now all of a sudden
I’m going to be sixty
and it is like all the leaves
have fallen off my tree.
Old happens,
so let me be old,
colorful and carefree.
Autumn is my favorite
time of year.
I would hope it to be
the best time
of my life.
Winter will be here
before I know it.

Autumn is a good mindset, Lori, please make it yours.

The colors of Autumn are not found in other seasons, nor are the colors of your heart found in others. I'm sure you know what I mean Lori Rhoden.
Winter is a time of cleansing, crisp air, and extended vision. Then, once again, comes the renewal of Spring. You've been there before, as you are a woman for all seasons. Your poetry says it's so.

Blusey,
Your words are warm and fuzzy like a favorite sweater and I will wear them today with a smile. I can't thank you enough. ~L
