Twenty-nine Inches Later (about "Harvey") Saturday morning: 4:06am - Lighting strobed, Thunder boomed, torrents of rain began, and though the wind wasn't bad, water from the sky began to make us wonder if Moses was born too early. Tuesday morning: 11:15am - Twenty-nine inches later, measured in my personal rain gauge - and still, rain continues to fall almost non-stop since Saturday morning . . . and we're still here, wet, but high and safe from the flooding all around us. This Storm, we're seeing where rain alone, can pour and pour continuously and cause the Great Flood of the bible - Fifty-two inches some areas South of us are reporting. Homeless are everywhere - so many have lost everything - and still . . . it rains: no Rainbows in sight, no Sun, just water, water, and more - Water. We pray for them, we thank God for the blessing He's giving us, and wait impatiently hopefully, for it all, to just . . . Go Away. ~ ~ ~ NOTE: Many around us, thousands in fact, or more, are in such a sorry plight, while those of us in my area, 30 or so miles north of downtown Houston, are, relatively, dry: dry meaning we haven't flooded, although there are area's close to us that haven't been so lucky - we fortunately are in one of the higher plots and even when our city, Oak Ridge North, Texas, floods, we have yet to be one of the victims of nature. And we have seen many of our fellow ORN residents with water flowing through their homes in the past , like someone put an enormous hose at the back door and pushed it through and out the front white-water style. And this wasn't even a hurricane, but a tropical storm when it reached us. And so far, it wasn't water from breached levees or the like (like Katrina) - just water, from the sky in quantities far beyond the earths capacity to flush it to the sea in time to prevent disastrous build-ups. And the rain is expected to be around, in sprinkles at times, and gushes at others, for a few days more . . .

Thanks Lori - it's 5:26 pm Central times now and I just saw Sunshine peeking through sporadically - Moses can rest in piece, now. And the weather-men lied, they said 2 or 3 more day's worth. (weather-men, you notice I said . . . -women wouldn't have done that too us, huh? lol! j. |

Harvey's wrath is unimangineable. I'm glad to know you are safe and the sun is trying to shine. I pray for those who are losing the battle, makes me so sad. Thanks for your poetic update jw. |

I'm so glad you're okay! With visions of Ike in my head, I ran. The traveling circus my cats and I made left before Harvey hit - and then watched and waited, hoped and prayed... and cried. Emotions have been all over the place - you captured the relief and sympathy very well! And you're right up the road from me!! Howdy, neighbor! |
