growing old from the standpoint of moi means what exactly I've lived life on the tilt daring myself . . . to step across the line breathe uncontaminated air not the staleness of status quo air which was mine alone to consume danced on the edge sometimes falling off with a laugh getting back up strutting on down the boulevard snapping fingers cool, yes indeed, way too cool visited various beds never took any of them all that seriously uh, yeah, there was that one but the idiot that I was only took it serious after it was gone forever I'm still paying for my folly each and every day and will until the day I die I'd found a rose in a field of bitterweeds God help me I failed to understand I'm so very sorry, Nanette so! here I am spending my time remembering my bandit ways shaking my head at things I've done not to worry I'm okay with everything by that I mean I've forgiven myself no longer let the past rule every waking moment of course forgiving and remembering are two distance cousins for to be completely blunt and blunt is what I have often been accused of being dammit there are some things you just can't forgive yourself for but I've done my best ©May 14, 2017 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

well 'penned' ... v. well 'said'! ... kinda' a 'spot-on' capture of the life of the 'every-person,' especially amid this double-post-modern "Runaway American Dream" (most of what you wrote certainly applies to me as well). |

I understand, and thank you for giving me some of your time to comment on my poem, it is greatly appreciated. Yes, trying to live and live it spontaneously is tried by many and, for the most part unsupervised, is a great folly. But we survive somehow. Thanks again. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Yes you are correct, Alana, no one is perfect. I spent many, many years being unperfect. Is that is even a word? I am contented with myself these days although I know there were times I should have zigged instead of zagged. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
