We broke a new record at a hundred and ten yesterday. Five o’clock in the morning and it is still eighty-five. It’s been triple digits all week. The cat sleeps in all day, not venturing out until evening. It is too hot for the hounds to bark, they spend their time following the shade and drinking buckets of water. The lawn is turning brown and crispy but the weeds are flourishing green. The river that was out of its banks just a month ago is running low. It’s too hot for the porch in the evening to sit and listen to the wildlife complain. The air conditioner runs all the time, only catching a break early mornings. As for myself, I’m hiding from the heat. I stick my head in the oven just long enough to let the dog go in and out. I only sneak to the garage refrigerator to liberate cans of pop or bottle of water. It is supposed to cool off tomorrow, maybe bring some rain. I might dance in it if it does. I’m tired of being held hostage by the heat. LGR©7/22/17 |

Damn! You do have heat up there, and you are doing the right thing staying inside until absolutely necessary to leave. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Fortunately for me, I have kept my napping skills well honed. Dennis leaves the TV on the news and it is all I can do to keep my eyes open. They start talking about the Donald's latest tweets and I'm out like a light. ![]() |
