 [reverse cinquain] Pretty little princess escapes to the deep seas loses herself willing captive Alice in Wonderland reigns over sea creatures. She's loathed to leave our world us who live in sadness absorbed in endless work no play beauty has lost meaning fantasies gone no joy. Someday she'll be grown up to smell the red roses stare enchanted at the blue skies laugh with joy and freedom in love with life with us. @jjote 07/11/2017 |

Although you didn't bring it up, but this poem brought to mind the many fantasies the very young retreat to where they can avoid being cast into an adult world that they have a difficult time understanding. Yout last stanza cinched that thought for me. "Someday she'll be grown up to smell the red roses stare enchanted at the blue skies laugh with joy and freedom in love with life with us." ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
