even the walls were sensuous paintings of ancient gothic masters strategically placed and very easy on the eye we stayed there in her bedroom all day our hands stroking forbidden places made love slept and awoke only to eat a bite we changed the linen resumed stroking making love taking small naps I felt like I never wanted to leave wanted to stay there forever until we were old with age to be discovered thousands of years from this moment by men who marveled at our entwined skeletons ©January 27, 2017 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

From the beginning to the end. Love...and the desire each has for the other, evident with every stroke of the digger's brush. Fascinating poetry JerryPat. Warms the heart. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Well I know all the guys just really love it when you write about sex as if it is the alpha and omega of love. It is not. It is the icing on the cake, the grease on the wheels and mortar between the bricks. Great sex can happen between strangers and it is called lust not love. Love is the day to day intentional tenderness of your actions and words. Love is respect in the face of another's weaknesses and failings. Love is trust and commitment. Love is being together without sex if necessary. I'm not saying your poem is bad, because it is not. It was meant to titillate and it did. It may have great articles, but Playboy has never been called love literature. ~L |

Damn Lori, I understand what you have said. In my mind when I wrote this poem, that these two people "were" deeply in love. Most people who are deeply in love have sex. Sorry you took it the wrong way. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

There in lies my point....The assumption that people deeply in love have marathon sex. Or that somehow the amount of sex you have is the measurement of your love. That is a fantasy driven myth. ~L |

I don't understand why you are on my case, Lori, but I guess you have your reasons. I will say, however, that when two people are in love and if that love is fresh and intense they do, many times, have marathon sex. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

wishful thinking Jerry, in the meantime, the stench of flesh will draw in the flies, or the coyotes, nothing will be left even the bones not even in a thousand days. Just kidding, not to take away illusions |

I suppose you are realistically correct, jjote, even so, this was a poem and I took poetical liberties. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

I just have to chime in here again JerryPat. I thought your poetry was very easy to understand. To take umbrage with it is beyond my experience, but not my understanding. To suddenly see something in your poetry and then relate it to "Playboy" and "marathon sex" is sheer absurdity. You only mentioned 'marathon sex' in your reply and if some see two skeletons embracing since they were flesh and it reminds them of "Playboy", I'd question their reading material. You were taken for a ride so far out of context that it seems clear that the drivers are living a sexless life and are reacting, as you said, out of their own reasoning. I would add frustration, but then "National Geographic" gets my motor running and I'd be far more likely to find two skeletons in 'various positions' in it than any one issue of 'Playboy'. I've seen photos of the imagery you mention in your poem and was touched by what I saw. http://rarehistoricalphotos.com/2800-year-old-kiss/ Always good poetry from you JP. BTS ...just bein' Bluesy |

Ah Blusey, thank you for "chiming in." Yes, I felt much the same about what some said. Eh, that is them and I am I. I still like my poem and am greatly pleased that you do also. Thank you again. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
