It occurred to me as I was sitting here pondering this and that’s, that being diabetic makes a cliché statement like, “to die for” literally true, if not prophetic. When placed behind such things as; that éclair is… And because I have no éclairs to die for, I’m willing to settle for Cap’n Crunch and a bowl of ice cream… And as I slurp down my heaping bowls of carbohydrates of deliciousness, the image of someone trying to kill themselves by slitting their wrists with a butter knife, is not lost on me. I O. D. every day. Not so far as a coma, I have all my toes and my eyesight is just fine. No signs of stroke and I passed my last stress test. Ah, who am I kidding? it is just a matter of time. I know it is all in my head. My head is a mess. I wasn’t doing half bad before the old man got sick. Then something just gave in. It’s the worst when he goes to bed early and it’s just me and the TV. I know I can find something to make me feel better and it will always be “to die for.” |

Oh Lori, I hate that this time of your life is so ups-es-daisy. After his next scan turns out positive, things will turn around for you. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
