I still remember Daddy's hugs And his kisses too The gentle way that he would say "Honey I love you" Remember when he came from work Raiding his lunch pail There was always a treat for me It would never fail When it came time to ride a bike He was by my side Kissing scraped up elbows and knees Wiping tears I'd cried He taught me how to tie my shoes Bought me a football Took me along on fishin' trips Did not mind at all Daddy would let me stay up late We would watch the stars He'd teach me about outer space Little men from Mars I remember trips to the lake Picnics in the park Car rides to the dairy queen When it was after dark My Daddy was more than a Dad He was my friend too Now that he is gone to heaven I am sad and blue Yet I remember Daddy's hugs And his kisses too The gentle way that he would say "Honey I love you" © Poet In Pink |

Such a treasure box of happy memories you would not trade for fancy trinkets I would say. Lucky you, girl |
