I wrapped a dream around myself, then got up from a shadowed shelf Into a world of in betweens, so many unrelenting scenes Of who knows what and who knows where, adrift on somnolescent air Through page on page of flame red skies, through evening’s ultimate disguise That dresses darkness diamond bright, a dreamer’s pillow of delight, For dreamers meet in shades of green, to talk of how much they have been Bemused by evening’s shining glow, so many stars they didn’t know So many hours of when and why move slowly over endless sky. I called out tiredly to the dawn, she spoke with condescending scorn Of sleep glazed eyes caught by the sun, a trip before the race is run From dawn to dusk it falls apart, yet evening feels a brand new start In shadow yet it dazzles there, so many things the soul can share, So many lamp lit windows passed, until I find my own at last Beneath the bridge of hope and care, reflections of a once said Prayer That spoke of love within pure hearts, of signposts to where heaven starts And gradually the starlit stream gave credence to my unwrapped dream. I wandered lonely as the clouds, no daffodils, just chalk white shrouds That washed themselves upon the air, baptismal were the showers there Those consecrations of the day, the kind that strip your fears away And grip your arm through shadowed streets, those places love alone defeats, Yet now although I know the way, I sometimes roam, and often stray Through rooms and souls of buried pain, to hold them close and kiss again As though it were just yesterday, and often I sit down and stay To talk again of then and now, of here and there, but never how… |

backstreetdreamer, I have only read two of your poems, and already have found your poems are music to be read aloud. Your site is a must visit! Love how you paint your images with the sound of music. ~miscellanea |
