The Old Man of the Sea Is long said to be The ruler of all oceans fair And sailors all know For fair winds to blow They’d best show respect to him there The Old Man of the Sea Quite ancient is he Dwelling far down in the deep When he gets a notion To stir up the ocean No sailor had better dare sleep He rants and he raves And churns up the waves While seamen hold tight to their ropes When he quiets down And loses his frown Their fears are replaced with their hopes Old seamen will say You’d best keep away If you are not one to believe Or you’ll quickly sink Right into the drink And never again will you leave The Old Man of the Sea Most definitely Rules over his watery domain Those with a doubt Will quickly find out And under the seas they’ll remain When sailing the brine Heed these words of mine Don’t ruffle a single sea feather And then the old guy Might let you slip by And bless you with fair sailing weather |
