How romantic. The dead answering? Nice trick. How romantic. Ouija wonders. Seeing you sleep. How romantic. Imploding emotions. The dead then decay. How romantic. Life to the grave. Alive to love. Then dead to decay. How romantic. Acceptance not needed. You’re in. How romantic. To be nuclear. A star. Learning well. Impotent lessons. Have it your way. You’re so romantic. I appreciate you looking into my poem and I truly mean that, but as a writer of poetry, I don't explain my writing very well and when I try, readers will inevitably say, "I didn't see that in your poem". So, as a writer yourself. you should already know how bothersome that can be. In fact, few ever ask, but since you did why not tell me what those three ideas were that you thought of? Or just one. That would be fine. If you do, I promise to respond. Thanks again.  One ladle serves the soup that feeds the mouths of the many. |

Well Boomer this is my take on it. We romanticize death but the reality is that there is nothing romantic about it. Death is a scientific event like nuclear fusion. Then I think you begin to talk about death in terms of a relationship. Then at the end when you say "Have it your way. You’re so romantic." It sounds like something my husband would say to me if I complained to him he wasn't romantic enough. I know I'm not getting this and it is driving me crazy because I feel like I'm close yet still so far away. ~L |

Thanks a lot for coming back Lori. I like what you said how "we romanticize death but the reality is that there is nothing romantic about it". I agree wholeheartedly. I had to 'hide' my own spiritual opinion of course because many, especially in light of the passing of friends, are sensitive about such things. While it makes good poetry and "romanticizes" it, these friends are in their grave awaiting resurrection. They're not stars or planets and they're not watching over us. Therein lies, "the trick". Stars are massive nuclear furnaces, not dead people. I know the pain of death as does everyone, and I have grieved as others have. But to allow the loss of someone we loved or just knew, to take our minds off of what's real (and promised), is to deny the power of the One who created life, the heavens and the earth. This is my opinion Lori. You or anyone else doesn't have to share it. Poets express themselves here in the way they see fit ("Have it your way"). I do no less. I would ask others to not be offended in their hour. Thanks again. I sure appreciate your comments. I'll address anything you ask of me. P.S I suspect this you said was with a touch of humor, "I complained to him he wasn't romantic enough". I don't think it's easy to become "romantic". It's a natural thing and you either are or you're not. Again my friend, that's my opinion.  One ladle serves the soup that feeds the mouths of the many. |
