If only I could exchange my daytime drowsy for my bedtime brain bedlam. Each one in its own time possesses me. I fight to stay awake in the daylight. At night I battle to slow my thoughts to sleep. I try to think about the seductive nature of sleepiness, the way it melts my body into lead and seals my eyes shut. Everything is warm and comfortable, until my head bobs, jerking my eyes open. The soft silkiness of sleepy soon returns to claim my consciousness. I am not at work and so I surrender up my snore. I’m staying up late tonight to see if I can catch up with ole’ sleepy and have him hook me up with some hardcore drowsy. I don’t feel like fighting myself tonight. |

Hi Blues! Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you liked my way with words. Seems like my topics are pretty much all the same though-me whining about something.~L |

PU, I don't have to wear a "vest" at work, but if I did it would be 15 years old with summers off. I'm not giving up my day job. Went to bed at 10:45 instead of 8:45 and got up at 6:30 instead of 4:30. I like those hours better I think. We'll see. It was daylight when I get up so I missed my coffee in the dark. The main thing was I didn't lay there awake and tormented last night. ~L |

quote:Yes Lori Rhoden, if you didn't feel "healthy, wealthy and wise" at the earlier time, settling for healthy and wise are the better of the three. Ah! Sweet slumbers. Want coffee in the dark? Get a sleep shade and leave it on. Just out looking for the real me... |

PU thanks for your thoughtful reply. One time I dreamed I was wealthy. I dreamed I fell into a vat at the Pizza factory and was rolling in dough. ~L |

I so agree with Bluesy. You do have a wonderful way with words. Your titles are among the best on PiP. They often intrigue me. Also, you nailed this sleep pattern issue. Nailed it! A |

Hey Alison! Thank you so much for your kind words. Especially about the titles. Some people complain titles are hard, but I find them fun and easy (because I'm usually ripping off one of the lines in my poem). I like that you say I have a way with words, I know what you mean and you are not saying I'm good at herding them all into sonnets. ~L |

I think that's one of the things that I love about your poetry -- your free-range words. |

That's what I like to think is my thing. Thanks for noticing! Hugs! ~L |
