A "businessman", mama called me,
when at the age of eight..
I loaded out with Root Beer, some ice,
and an old crate

At ten I was selling garden seeds,
and "White Cloverine Brand Salve"
My big mistake was selling ties,
those that belonged to dad!

Come twelve, I peddled ice cream,
and spotted bowling pins
The gals would often tip me,
if their bowling team would win!

These days I'm writing poetry
and I'll give you a great deal
Someday they'll be quite valuable
Right now they're a real steal!

You're not 'pretty pink prey' stranded on the Moors and I'm not the "Hound of the Baskervilles", though some do say my face is a rough recollection of the same! I'm just tryin' to peddle a little 'salve' and sell some 'poetry with potential'...that's all.

By the way, when did you first notice that I was crazy about you?
