With Both Eyes Closed

Sometimes one has to, sort of,
look oneself in the eye
with both eyes closed, and
see what lies in that dark space
between the ears.

It's not pretty.
This time it's not.
This time the memory
flays me from the inside,
ripping and tearing
just beneath my skin.

This time she's in my soul.
She burns.
She aches so bad,
she tears my heart . . . I bleed -

I bleed!

Sometimes one has to, sort of, . . . live
without that which makes one whole.
Live, with a memory
in that dark space between the ears,
reachable, only, when both eyes
are closed.

Some see dark indeed when their eyes are closed. The honesty frightens them because of who they are or how many of them there are inside.

Some see light in the dark and find their way in the comfort of the the most remote regions of thought.

Some handle well the impact others have on them...in the darkness of the soul or in the light of it. Comfortable with themselves in the honor of their brethren.

Pass the Glade if you're going to do that here...

Lovely poetry my friend, bittersweet and oh so well written.

I look at every situation as "there is something in it for me to learn from" both good and bad....the good gives us joy, even if for a moment, without that, how would we ever know joy?

this made me ponder....
