For Eternity
By Paul Wilson

I held your hand as you slipped away
On this journey we all must take
My teardrops fell on your cheek
My heart began to break

I wished I could keep you here with me
But knew you wanted to go
You were ready for the pain to stop
God needed you more than I will ever know

You had a smile on your face
When I kissed you goodbye
I will always love you baby
Even after I die

One day we will be together again
To share memories with each other
Eternity will be ours together
You, me and your Mother

I wish you could tell me
How happy you are
I wish I could see your smile
I wish upon a faraway star

Each night I talk to you
Just to ease my pain
Each day I kiss your photo
As I remember how you loved the rain

I count the days and weeks
Since you passed away
I wish with all my heart
That you could stay

For Eternity

You have me in tears here.  Eternity is where we are headed, Paul.  She just went ahead to make sure it's perfect for you when you get there.  And I'm sure it will be.

Michael & Eric...Sorry to pull at yall's heartstrings, but like it says at the bottom of all my poems " To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you"

Thanks so much for caring and your sweet replies. I need to quit writing all these sad poems, but right now they give me comfort...Paul

In response to your response, "I need to quit writing . . . sad poems..."  Bull Pucky! Sad poems are heart-strings my friend, same as happiness is.

Have had enough "loss" myself to know from where you come . . . and your pain is my pain,
and I send you warmth and hugs. Just touch these words with your hand and know my spirit is there.

j.

James...Thanks for understanding my friend. It is getting easier each day, but I know the emptiness in my heart will never go away.
Thanks for caring and your reply...Paul

Paul, I don't think you don't need to stop writing sad poems.  The poetry is your outlet for emotional release.  The overall tone of your poetry will lighten as time passes I am sure.  In the meantime though, to not write would be akin to harboring what truly needs to be let out.  We don't write what we see, smell, hear or touch...we write what we *feel.
