All of the memories are mine now... mine alone. Suddenly, the final vestige of my youth disappeared into the void. That spirit has flown over that far away horizon with all that we had known of the past and the shadows spread over the comfort of the familiar that I gently tend here in the shade where the memories come and go like the whisper of wind. "mine alone." That line says it all. In this race we run, we somehow convince ourselves those who run the further or longer are somehow the winners, but oh what a toll reaching the end alone can be. I relate to this one well, Ida...especially the tending of memories that come and go. |
