The Dance A touch may bring the betterment Of mankind on some grander day. Today, though, might be better spent On things to while the day away. Lest stagnant call of remembrance, Like some lost childhood quality, Rear its head for a chance to dance… No, some ghosts are best left to be. I watch another sunset fade From the front porch, refuse to swing. There is no joy left this crusade. Such is dead art—remembering! Just await that which never comes, A tinge of death upon the breeze; Till even hope of it succumbs To quiet stillness of disease. It’s in the darkness, drawing near. You surely sense it everywhere… Till in the east dawn strikes it clear, Still all you see is darkness there. One last deep breath, if more a sigh. Tension, but relaxation too. Finally the touch that stills your eye... So suddenly, the dance is new. Michael Anderson [This message has been edited by Michael (10-12-2019 12:45 AM).] |

Michael, I always struggle with your words because you are a master of indigo so dark I hate to go there and relate to what I'm trying to avoid. But, your writing is so special as to be hard to resist...~L |

How effectively put, the wording is smooth and never bombastic, but packs a big punch. The tinge of death and the quietness of disease. It's insidious. And at the end, just a bit of a possible lift. |

Your poet's heart finds beauty in the darkness, Michael. |

I can't find the right words to say how this hit me. I'm on that porch swing too.... You always manage to touch my whole soul with your pen. |

Just when I think it is safe to enter Michael's world...I'm flung back to the reality of your mind. But this spoke to me, as all of your words always have. You make me hurt, so I know I must be living. |

Mikey,Mike,Michael - This I loved. There is an eloquence in your words that brings clarity to the darkness. Great writing and my fav: "Just await that which never comes A tinge of death upon the breeze Til even hope of it succumbs To quiet stillness of disease" Whoa! The great bards of old are smiling in Heaven and so am I. You did real good. Namyh |
